As a staff member or volunteer, you will receive:

(All volunteers must be 18 years or older at the time of the show and are required to work at least 8 hours throughout the total duration of the event)

VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENTS

SHOW SETUP & BREAK DOWN

This assignment can consist of several things, it just depends on who you’re helping. You will arrive at the time slots that you select and help setup (or break down) the show with pipe & drapes, vendor booths, signs, banners, tables and chairs, to get ready to start (or end) the show. Duties may include some heavy lifting, stage setup, a/v testing, and running errands.

PROGRAMMING

Programming volunteers will help out with maintaining the schedule & flow of the show for the best experience. Duties may include putting up signs, banners, handing out flyers, passing out snacks & refreshments to guests, volunteers and/or staff, running messages to guests and/or staff, and helping out with any last minute changes.

STAFF ASSISTANCE

When staff is working the floor, we like to have volunteers hang with them and help out with tasks that’re immediately needed. Your job here is to assist staff personnel who you will be assigned to. Duties may include delivering messages to guests, being a floater, sitting as a doorman, relieving other volunteers who need a break, helping guests and attendees with whatever is needed within reason, to provide the best experience possible.

LINE MANAGEMENT

As line managers, we need volunteers to help maintain and organize the line of attendees waiting to enter the show. You will assist any attendees that need accessible seating, manage panel seating, and help keep lines out of the way of other activities and events. Volunteers who work line management should be able to stand for extended periods of time, and be comfortable with crowds.

SPECIAL GUEST LINE MANAGEMENT

Similar to Panel Line Management, a volunteer will help organize the line of attendees waiting to meet, take pictures, and get autographs with our guests. You will also help take pictures and keep the line moving. Volunteers working line management must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

SPECIAL GUEST ASSISTANCE

When our guests make an appearance at POP CULTURE CON, we like to have volunteers hang with them while they’re doing signings, sketches, taking pictures and speaking on panels. Your job here is to sit with our guests, and assist them with whatever they need (within reason). Duties may include watching their table while they use the restroom, or take a break, assist with keeping track of attendees in their line, and answering questions.

TICKETS & REGISTRATION

Our ticket & registration volunteers are among the first people attendees will meet! While you’re working tickets & registration you will be checking people in as they arrive, handing out programs, and answering questions. This position is perfect for someone who likes to interact with people!

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Our customer service volunteers are some of the first people attendees will meet! While you’re working customer service, you will be checking people in who’re arriving in cosplay, checking props to make sure they are in compliance with our policy, assisting with weapons check and answering questions. This position is perfect for someone who likes to interact with people!

AUDIO/VISUAL

Audio/Visual volunteers will help to handle the technical side of things! Your job as an audio/visual volunteer includes setup of lighting and sound equipment, operating audio/visual during panels, and tearing down as needed. Occasionally the stage setup may need to be reconfigured between panels as well. Experience in recording, mixing, theater, and lighting is encouraged.
